the lat airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang)[1] is an American animated television series that aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. The series was created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who served as executive producers along with Aaron Ehasz. Avatar is set in an Asian-influenced world[2] of Chinese martial arts and elemental manipulation. The show drew on elements from traditional Asian culture, blending the styles of anime and US domestic cartoons.[3]

The series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating the evil Fire Lord and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.[4] The pilot episode first aired on February 21, 2005[5] and the series concluded with a widely-praised two-hour television movie on July 19, 2008.[6] The show is obtainable from various sources, including on DVD, the iTunes Store, the Zune Marketplace, the Xbox Live Marketplace, the PlayStation Store, Netflix Instant Play, and on the Nicktoons Network.[7]

Avatar: The Last Airbender was popular with both audiences and critics,[8] garnering 5.6 million viewers on its best-rated showing and receiving high ratings in the Nicktoons lineup, even outside its 6–11-year-old demographic.[4][9] Avatar has been nominated for and won awards from the Annual Annie Awards, the Genesis Awards, the primetime Emmy awards and a Peabody Award among others. The first season's success prompted Nickelodeon to order second[10] and third[11] seasons. In other media, the series has spawned a live-action movie trilogy, the first titled The Last Airbender, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, scaled action figures,[12] a trading card game,[13][14] three video games based on the first,[15] second,[16][17] and third seasons, stuffed animals distributed by Paramount Parks, and two LEGO sets.[18] An art book was also released in mid-2010.[19] Furthermore, the president of Nickelodeon announced on July 21, 2010 that a spin-off mini-series called Avatar: Legend of Korra will premiere in 2011.[20]

Walang kupas na galling ni Nakpil.
By: Gia Hilado

Masaya dahil I brought honor to my school.”

PHYSICS
Fun Filled Physics Fieldtrip.
By: gia hilado

A memorable September 16 2010 to all 4th year students of JCA. As we had there 2010 filled trip courtesy of the physics class. We spent most of the day having fun in Enchanted Kingdom what a ride!

Usually student will say that the highlight of the field trip is always the bus. Well this year is different, Ms. Shiela Padilla, Mr. Wilfredo Adorio and crowd’s favorite Mr. Allen Elefano was there to join the fun.

It was a great idea to incorporate a very stressful subject with fun. We had a little bit of problem with the problem solving but no matter we were able to solve it with flying colors.

The space shuttle was awesome. I was with Ms. Padilla her grip on my hand almost broke it. Everyone was shouting like crazy. And after the ride everybody was shaking.

Next was the anchor away. I was sitting next to our physics teacher which was funny because he was also screaming.

We rode the jungle log jam. I was with my best friend. At first she was saying this is a piece of cake. But when we got to the top, she was praying. Lord help me please. And I was laughing so hard.

Then off to flyinfiesta. Bustamante was behind me. I saw him with his eyes shut because he was so scared.

We paused for a while to take a break everybody was so tired. We took so many pictures it was so enjoying. We walk for like one hour the we decided to stop on a bench.

Then we went the stores. We tried some eye liners and were looking trough some stuff. I bought a shirt for my shall I say special friend in SanSebastian. It was so exciting.

Then we rode the rialto. It was boring! Honestly it was the same movie I watch last summer when I went there with my family.

Next we went to the arcade. I won two stuffed animal from the hook game thingy. I used physics to grab the stuffed animal. It was so cool.

The main event was the Rio grande rapids. Everyone except me got wet. Which pissed me off. We rode it 4 times and I didn’t even get wet.

Then we went home. It was fun cause evry body was singing and so many controversies. But all in all I had a million laughters.

Awake.
By; Gia Hilado
Reaction paper…

Awake is a very breath taking film. It was for me very interesting and the directors and producers did not hold anything back. You can really see the compassion they had while making the film. They wanted people to see the truth about life, life is not perfect.

Awake is a film about a guy named Clay. Clay may seem to have it going on. He is rich. He is very good looking. He is smart. And he has the perfect girlfriend.

It is about medical malpractices. In the movie the wife(Sam) was only after the money she’ll get if her husband dies. Usually medical malpractices happen by accident, but in this case it was on purpose.

I’m no doctor but I swore I saw some malpractice myself. Like doctors are given a time span in surgeries. And I know they are not supposed to take their masks off. And they shouldn’t be drunk. And they shouldn’t let anyone inside the OR. And there should be cameras everywhere.

A doctor no matter how critical a case may be, should not commence an operation without the persons consent. So if the movie was real the hospital may be sued multiple charges.

The movie showed that no matter how rich you are you can never buy true happiness in life. It goes to show that all good things must come to an end. Beauty can be deceiving. And mothers know best.

dota wala na..

Dota! Nakakasawa!?
By; Gia Hilado.

May pustahan pang nagaganap.

Ikaw? Saan ka kaanib? Sa mga emo o sa mga jejemon? Kahit sino ka man sa mga yan.
Kahit sino ka pa man diyan.

building blocks to the future

Reflect

JCAians Reflects

permit to leave, permit to live...

what's up with upcat?

What is up with UPCAT???

UP the school to be? What about the others? When it comes to universities up is like the school everybody would die for! Its like a one in a million risk. A risk many people take every single year. But why UP why not UST or Ateneo or even La salle, one particular school stand out among the rest.

A school of activists that’s what some says, but is that what everybody thinks? If so, then why do parents enroll them in that school, Ironic? True, but it’s the truth everybody should face. Out of 100 thousand applicants all over the Philippines only 30 thousand is given the chance.

It is the home of the so called “scholars ng bayan”. The word scholar means it is for the less privilege, that is why some people say that if you are rich don’t enroll in UP cause you are stealing from the less fortunate.

When asked why, people say its because it easier to find a job when you’ve graduated from UP, while some is just after the university name, others just want to prove to themselves that they are qualified. Which one are you?

For me UP is UP it is just a university. Though I myself had tried my luck, I wont be down or depressed if for instance I don’t pass. It is a world of possibilities, if I cage myself from the thought that UP is the only school for me, then I would just limit myself to that, and I wont be able to see what lies beyond the horizon.

It is a world full of doors. There is no use crying over spilled milk right? Though I’m hoping to be one of the few, I don’t want to get my hopes up to high for it’s one in a million chance. I know even if Im not that one, God will provide me with the right path.

So where do you stand
New, new, new. Its just plain new!

A time to laugh and a time to weep, a time to work a time to live, a time to win and a time to fail. Back to school mode. Bye, beaches. Hello books. The school year had just begun. So many things were unexpected. New teachers, new government, new people, so many new faces and the biggest change the new “kibuts.”

So many things have changed, and I don’t know where to start. Let me begin with the teachers. Well I for one have thought that they would be push-overs. They all look so young, but honestly the new teachers of JCA really do know what they are talking about in front of the class. It is true that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The teachers look sweet and they but I used to think that they are somehow incapable of teaching us students, they look kind of weak. Well they sure showed me.

Next, the new SSG, lead by Ms. Danielle V. Nakpil as the president of the student body and Mr. Josiah Albelda as their adviser, promises to make this year a school year nobody would ever forget. From what I’ve seen in the last few weeks in school I would say that they really trying their best to make this school year rock.

New faces, the numbers of students of JCA increased this year. And I like what I’m seeing most of the new students are nice and they know how to treat the people around them. That’s nice, actually I think everybody should be like that so that no body will ever get left behind.

The new Kibuts, it has a very cool new look. The staff even has a new uniform. The price rates lessen and the food is still the same. But with new looks comes new irritating rules. Well we cant have everything, I guess there’s always a catch. Well who knows we all have our opinions.

So many things has already happened, its only been one month. What else would happen next? One things for sure, this year would be different.

the greatest person alive

For me and some of the people I know, Oprah Winfrey is the greatest person alive. She is very influential and very strong. She is a role model to thousands of people all over the world.

She is known as the world’s richest philanthropist. She is also known for her award winning self-entitled talk show Oprah. She is also ranked the richest African-American of the 20th century. Oprah is once known as the only black billionaire.

Oprah also had her fair share of hardships. She was born in poverty by her teenage single mother in the rural Mississippi and later on raised in the inner-city Milwaukee. She was raped at the age of nine and got pregnant at the age of 14. Her son died in infancy. Afterward she was sent to live with the man who got her pregnant.

She then called her father a barber in Tennessee. From then on she got her break on a radio job while she was still in high school. At the age of 19 she co-anchored her first local evening news. Her personal experiences got her transferred to a daytime talk show arena. She then boosted that third rated local Chicago talk show to first place. Making her launch her own production company and became internationally syndicate.

Through all that success Oprah stays down to earth. She never fails to amaze people with her kindness. She is involved with so many charities and rumor has it that she actually supports half of Africa.

Oprah sees the world in a different view. Her hardships were her key and inspiration to keep on moving forward. Who would have ever thought that a poor nobody would end up one of the richest person on earth? What are the odds of becoming someone influential all of a sudden?

She didn’t just get there like magic. She got where she is today because of determination, and hard work. That is why Oprah for many young and old individuals is the greatest person alive.

Life and times of Gia Hilado

Life and times of Gia Hilado

Once again the most unlikely person is included in the well renowned official campus publication of JCA. Its hard to believe that the most lazy and uncaring person in the face of the universe is part of the coolest club in JCA.

Wicked cool!!! Honestly I’ve lost hope in being a part of this year’s team of IGNITEROS. And to be honest I’ve been thinking of what elective to take this year.

But I am blessed that is why I am in journalism today. The moment Mr. Albelda asked me if I was still willing to join journalism, or the moment he asked me if I was thinking of transferring to another elective, I instantly woke up from my dream land and jumped super high for joy.

He asked me what position do I want to cover. I abruptly said I want to be a photo-journalist once again.

There so many reasons why I’d die for a slot in IGNITE.

One because I believe that I didn’t give my best last year. The first few months of course. I wanted to make a good impression.

But as time passes by I grew lazy. I don’t do assignments. I didn’t give a damn about school work.

But this year im gonna make a difference. Im gonna be a vessel. A vessel that would lead ignite to victory(or at least try).

Second:Im a dreamer and I am a believer. I dream of IGNITE in the nationals winning its back to back championship. I believe that we IGNITEROS are capable of such things.

Last year we surrendered everything to God. We didn’t have the fund in which we need to print our paper. The paper that we have all worked hard for the whole year.

Ignite has taught me so much last year. And I know it will teach me more this year.

In journ we need to have determination, inspiration, and application.

Determination= we must be focused on the goal.
Inspiration= find the heart that will help you reach or better yet surpass that goal.
Application= in everything you do you will have to learn some things. Of course all of those are for us. We should be willing to stop at one point and ask yourself what I’ve learn from this experience. Then apply it in your daily life.

I believe that by withholding myself to this facts I would survive. No I would pass this school year with flying colors. So help me God!

no, no to sex incompetence

Sex education??? Really?

Sex education has been a vital issue for years now. For years people have argued over a simple problem. Having to study sex education in every classroom.

What’s up with that? Huh… If you ask me, that issue should be thrown out of consideration list. Why? Easy there are tons of problems that should be on top priority. Like uh, I dont know maybe poverty…

What’s up with people making such big fuzz about something so small? I mean sex is sex people may take it green mindedly or not. But sex is sex.

Sex will happen. Besides in sex education student don’t actually learn how to do sex. The students will just learn what will happen if you do that.

I myself am terrified of sex. Honestly even the word “sex” scares me. Weird? Maybe so but I know that fear wont get me knock up like other young girls are.

Yes! Girls, girls who think they know everything. Girls who goes with the flow. Even girls who is blinded by what they call love. Girls who barely even know what sex is.

Tough words for a girl my age huh? Well for me that will prevent me from ever being a young mother.

To be honest its stupid of some schools to not have sex education in there curriculum. Why? Because its helps make students more open-minded about sex matters.

For me, students will become more mature. Because think about it. Passing such a malicious topic would be difficult if you’re not mature enough.

Sex education is the study of people reproduction. This subject matter covers the do’s and dont’s of sex. It also covers how to protect yourself from getting aids or other diseases and how to not get pregnant.

So what is wrong with that? For me that would be even more helpful. Instead of killing an unborn child. The beauty of the human body works in different ways.

Think about it, for girls having the knowledge of having a new soul inside your body. And for boys, having to be a part or instrument to God’s plan. It works wondrous.

All life is valuable remember that. But also remember that everything goes according to Gods plan. You will be a part of that new creation so whether you like it or not you will have to accept the responsibility and consequences of what you are about to do.

“Prevention is better than cure” that will be the best advice I could give students.

For me sex education should in fact be a part of our school curriculum, so that all I’ve said will be part of the development of our increasing young parents population. And this will also prevent poverty.

the place to be

Hilado.Gia

4-glorious

Assignment#1

Title: The Place to be.

What is journ? For me journ is home. It is the elective where no one gets left behind. It’s a place where a student is free to express his/her thoughts on a certain topic.

Journ gives me a sense of originality. Why cause in every competition. I am challenge to think of something different. In journalism, you have to think of ways on how to make your piece different yet interesting but the rules still are still imposed. Difficult huh? That’s journ for you.

I cant complain cause for me journ is the place to be. This may seem shallow ,but for me your officially cool in JCA if you are in journ.

Journ for me was the greatest part of my 3rd year life. Though i did somethings that I’d have to regret, like not passing my requirements on time. Not caring at all what happens when im not around or simply not being a good student to Mr. Albelda.

When I was in 3rd year I was lucky enough to be able to come to the mini-press con.,division and regional competions. At first I didn’t know why Mr.Albelda choose me. I thought because I have a gift or something. Maybe I did but maybe as time grows old my other classmates developed their gifts in writing to.

Honestly im happy where I am in journ today, Cause I know I deserve it but honestly I wouldn’t mind taking a step forward if you know what I mean.

When I joined journ. I didn’t know what will happen. I mean when I was in 1st and 2nd year highschool I used to write columns in Roosevelt collage. I thought both the nws paper wer the same and I was wrong big time. Ignite is a hundred timebetter than roosevelt’s publication.

I thought I’ll get by like I did in Roosevelt. I was wrong, in Roosevelt I get grades of 93 in English for my participation I journalism. But with Mr.J I can’t do that.

What I love about journ is that I get to do what I want and that is taking pictures and writing news. I also love radio broadcasting.

Journ gave me some unforgettable memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I love it when we go out of the campus. I love our field trip. I love the time we interviewed mr. Jeffrey Jeturian and imma cried. I love the time Mr. J came by my house to interview my tita. I love it when my tita said that Mr.j is the youngest yet most prepared journalist who ever had an interview with her and she’d had interviews with so many professional journalist she even had an interview with MANY “pacman” PACQIUAO. It made me proud as his student to be hearing that from my tita.

Of course if there are so many good times I can’t help having bad time as well. Like the time we went to SM north and someone almost had a chance to steal my cell phone. But my insinct got the best of me and I actually screamed at the girl. I also experienced having a low mark in journ.

But to be honest I wouldn’t replace journ for anything. Journ is in the list of my favorite things.

That is why I think that journ is the place to be.
